Our MTC Experience

This is not an easy thing for me to do since writing has always been a sweat producing phobia dating back to school days. But I will forge ahead because we know that there are thousands of our fans who want to know what we have been doing here at the MTC. (Just a little delusional.)
We entered the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah on February 26th along with about 24 other couples who are being sent to such places as Montana, Texas, Arizona, Florida, California, Chili, Ecuador, Vietnam, India, Bulgaria, Russia, Ukraine and South Africa. It has been great loads of fun getting to know them and hearing of their challenges, concerns and assignments. Not even mentioning the 3000 young elders and sisters who also are called to go throughout the world.
The first week we spent learning from Preach My Gospel and had to teach lessons to "investigators". Sure was fun team teaching with my companion. The second week was intensive instructions on the Humanitarian aspect of our call. So in a sentence here's the gist of the assignment: we will be seeking out other organizations that are functioning in the countries of Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Lesotho and South Africa to partner in helping the people help themselves. We will be traveling 50% of our time and trying to remember and pronounce peoples names.
It is time to go to bed because tomorrow we'll be boarding the plane that takes us to Chicago then London and then on to Johannesburg.

Aunt Kris and Uncle Terry, We are so excited you are blogging about your adventures. We will love reading accounts of what is happening there. Good luck with that long flight. My dad has done it many times and is such a pro at it! Hope all goes well and you get some rest when you land!

We had FHE with the Schatzmans last night and they put together a Brazil night for Ashton. They even got a video to watch from the library (and luckily screened it before bringing it over!) It said that the majority of the people in Salvador are black because of the slaves that were brought over from Africa way back when! So Ashton is kind of going to Africa too! You keep us posted and we will do the same...Deal?
Love ya lots!
